Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is annoyed that his team have
to play tonight rather than playing at the weekend like the other teams
did.
Arsenal's game with Wigan Athletic had to be rescheduled to tonight because of the Latics being in the FA Cup final on Saturday against Manchester City, a game they went on to win 1-0 thanks to a Ben Watson late header.
Wenger's men go into the game tonight knowing that only a win is good enough otherwise their Champions League fate is out of their hands and instead is in the hands of their fierce-rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
After Spurs beat Stoke City 2-1 at the weekend, they jumped above Arsenal into fourth and currently sit two points clear of their North London rivals, but if the Gunners win tonight, they will go back into fourth going into the last game of the season.
However, Wigan also have something to fight for as they know if they don't win, they will be relegated from the Premier League to the Championship.
The Arsenal boss has revealed that the weekend break was not welcomed by his team and he would have preferred to play at the weekend rather than tonight.
“It is a very important game for both sides, so we expect huge commitment on both sides, Arsenal boss refered to Arsenal player We play at home and we want to take advantage of that.
“We are on a remarkable run, we have been hugely consistent and we are in a position where our destiny depends on us and we want to finish the job.
“Both teams have to go for it so it is very difficult to know what will happen but usually it should be an open game. I still think Wigan will be faithful to their shape, which is based on a solid defence and quick counter-attacking. Overall I believe that will be the case.
“Look, at the moment we are not overloaded with games. The break wasn't especially welcome. I would have loved to play over the weekend.
“That is one of the problems that has to be sorted out because the FA takes over the fixtures of the Premier League and I don't think it is right.”
