Emmanuel Adebayor turned up the heat on Arsenal in the top-four race as Tottenham recorded a hard-earned and possibly vital win over Stoke at the Britannia Stadium.

Adebayor tapped home Clint Dempsey’s low centre with seven minutes left to complete a stirring Spurs turnaround facilitated by Charlie Adam’s rash dismissal on 47 minutes.

Adam had earlier crossed for Steven N’Zonzi to put Stoke in front, but Dempsey equalised when he capitalised on a misunderstanding between Asmir Begovic and Marc Wilson.

The result means that, whatever the result when Arsenal take on Wigan on Tuesday, Spurs will head into the final day of the season with their Champions League hopes very much alive.

Andre Villas-Boas made two changes to the Tottenham side which drew with Chelsea on Wednesday, with Steven Caulker and Aaron Lennon replacing Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Lewis Holtby, while Stoke also made two changes to the team which drew with Sunderland.

That result had already all but secured Stoke’s survival, but the ferocity of their start suggested they still wanted to give their fans a proper send-off on their last home match of the season.

They pressed Tottenham early and hard, pushing them back and forcing an uncertain visiting backline into mistakes, and inside three minutes they had their reward.

Adam curled an inviting free-kick delivery into the box from the right and N’Zonzi was left all alone at the near post to head past a floundering Hugo Lloris.

The Potters looked vulnerable in defence though and on 20 minutes, moments after seeing an effort correctly ruled out for offside, Dempsey made them pay.

Wilson cleared a ball heading for Begovic but could only deflect it into the path of the Spurs man who, with the Bosnian stranded upfield, lofted the ball into the empty net from 25 yards.

Tottenham – and in particular Gareth Bale – grew in confidence, and as the half drew to a close, but Stoke weathered the storm and the two sides went in level at the break.

The decisive moment came just two minutes after the interval, however, as Adam received a second booking for sliding in rashly on Jan Vertonghen.

Almost immediately Spurs’ control of the game became total, and two minutes later Dempsey directed Bale’s devilish cross just over the bar with Begovic beaten.

Begovic continued to be the only point of significant resistance to Villas-Boas’ men, making crucial interceptions and saves as the visitors monopolised the ball and probed for an opening.

Even the Stoke No.1 was helpless when Tom Huddlestone’s lofted in-swinging free kick found Jan Vertonghen unmarked at the back post, but the defender headed just over.

The introduction of Mousa Dembele on 68 minutes gave Spurs greater guile, and soon after the Belgian threaded the ball into Bale who, having checked onto his right foot, fired inches wide.

Stoke’s threat now came exclusively from set-pieces, and 10 minutes from time Robert Huth headed narrowly over from a Dean Whitehead free kick.

But three minutes later Adebayor prodded home a goal which will make Arsenal fans everywhere feel more than a little uncomfortable as Tottenham climb to fourth.

Mercy Johnson Speaks About New House & Car “My Husband Surprised Me With Them”

mercy-johnson-and-purityNigerian actress Mercy Okojie nee Johnson who arrived from the United States Of America last month has received surprise gifts from her husband.

In this recent interview with Adeola Adeyemo, the actress said her located in Thomas Estate in Ajah, Lagos and the new car she is driving are surprise gifts from her husband, Prince Odianosen Okojie.
See the detail interview report below;
It’s great to see you Mercy. Let me start by saying that you have a beautiful home. Thank you. It was a surprise from my husband, Odi. He didn’t tell me about it while we were in America and when I returned back to Nigeria, I thought we were going to our former house but he drove me straight here. And then he also gave me a new car with the plate number ‘Odi’s ’.
Aww, that’s so sweet. There’s been a lot of media attention surrounding the birth of your and her recent dedication. How does this make you feel?
At a point, I actually felt the whole thing was over dramatized. I really appreciate the fact that some people wish me well and are happy for me which is why I share her picture on Twitter once in a while. On my Twitter page, more than 3000 people ask me about Purity day. Sometimes I get overwhelmed but I’m grateful for the love and goodwill messages and I can only say thank you.
Purity is quite a unique name. What inspired her name?
When I asked my husband, he said “You. She reminds me so much of you.” He said I have a good heart and he’d really want her to have a good heart and clear conscience like me. And he’d wish for everything about her to be pure.
As a first time Mom, how has the experience been so far?
It’s magical, it’s awesome! I just can’t stop staring at her. When I was pregnant, my sister-in-law came to the house and when her son pooped I said “Oh my God, don’t let it touch my chair!” Then I was about six months gone and she just looked at me and said “In months time, you will understand”. And really, it is true. Now when Purity poops, I begin to dance. Everything is special. I want to clean her up myself, dress her up myself. I just can’t explain, she makes me complete.
Has pregnancy and motherhood affected or changed you in any way?
Well, you can see, I’ve added so much weight. But aside from my physical appearance, having Purity has changed me so much as a person. Having her makes me want to set the right example, to have good records so she doesn’t get embarrassed when she’s grown. It changes my perspective to life and the way I react to things. I tolerate things more, I overlook things more. I love children generally but now I understand how precious every child is to their mother so I try to treat other children the way I’d want her to be treated if I’m not around.
Let’s talk a bit about your career and what brought you into the limelight. What inspired you to take up acting as a profession?
I’ve had too many criticisms for saying this but I actually had just one inspiration and it was Genevieve Nnaji. When I got into Nollywood, lots of things later inspired me to do the things I do but she triggered my interest. I watched her in the movie “Sharon Stone” and I knew I wanted to act.
What were you doing around that time?
I had just finished Secondary school and so between that time and trying to get into the University that I launched my career.
Getting a big break is often difficult for a lot of aspiring actors. Was it easy or difficult launching into the movie industry?
For me, it wasn’t that difficult. There were challenges here and there but it was basically about how you can present yourself as an actress.
When did you feature in your first movie and how many movies have you featured in till date. This was in 2003. If I want to be humble I’d say over 50, if I want to pose I’d say over 200. But really it is quite a lot. You know the way we do movies here it’s just on and on and on in several parts.
Tell me about your childhood. What was growing up like?
I was a tomboy. I am the fourth child from a family of seven children. The first four are girls and the last three are boys so I actually moved a lot with my brothers, climbing trees and stuff like that. We didn’t get everything we wanted but we got everything we needed. I’m from a very humble background, a Christian family. My Dad is an ex-military officer and we basically grew up in a Military environment. I attended Navy Primary and Secondary Schools until I went to the Lagos State University before I deferred.
What were you studying at the University and why did you choose to defer your studies? I was studying English and I deferred at the time I was moving to my 200 Level. I was sort of very busy with my career, acting here and there, making money and it got into my head. But I’d love to go back to school.
To Lagos State University? No. I’d love to take up some acting lessons or study a course in Acting since that is what I’m into.
Your profile on Wikipediasays you got into acting because you failed your University Entrance Examinations. Also, there were some reports about you leaving school because you weren’t so good with your academics. Are these reports true? I banged my JAMB, yeah that is true. I had to write JAMB twice. But it is not true that I wasn’t good with my academics. I didn’t have issues with passing my exams at school.
What is your definition of a sexy woman? Sexy is inbuilt. It’s just how you feel about yourself. For me, sexy is confidence. It mustn’t be about the Malaysian hair or the Gucci bag or the big bum. It’s about you liking yourself just the way you are.
But most people would call you sexy because of your figure… For me, it just runs in my family. I don’t work out or do anything. I’m just trying now to work out and swim to lose weight and get back to work so Odi doesn’t get to call me Orobo again. When I bath Purity in the morning and I see the curve of her hips, I say “Oh my God, Odi. Purity has hips” then he says, “She is just 4 months old, shut up”.
That’s funny. Now that you mention your husband again, tell me about him. When did you meet him and how did the love spark between both of you? I met him in 2009. We had met before on a flight and I didn’t remember but we met again in 2009. He is a good person. I can’t really tell how it started. We kinda clicked and started dating just about the same month and it feels like we’ve been married for four years because since we met, we’ve been really into each other we’ve been really close.
He must have known you were an actress then. How did this affect the way you started off your relationship? Yes he did, but he didn’t know I was that big because he didn’t really follow the movie industry. Sometimes you meet some guys and they get intimidated about you but not with him. The first time we were supposed to have a date, he said “Let’s go to my house so you can cook for me” and in my mind I was like “Seriously, this guy doesn’t even know my name”. So I said “My name is ” and he said “Yes I know”.
What is the most romantic thing he has done for you recently? He got me a new diamond ring different from my wedding band. I kept saying I want a new band, something really big and he got it for me. He is extremely loveable.
In the weeks before your wedding, some controversies sprang up and there were speculations that the wedding may not hold. How were you able to pull through this period? I knew my wedding was going to hold. It is easy for people who are outside a box to try to explain the inside of a box without coming inside. People who didn’t know anything had lots to say. But it was fun to let them have their say. If having your say makes you feel better, I can’t take that fun away from you. But we in the box knew what’s up and people who wanted to know what was going on actually came into the box and knew the truth.
Was there anything new that you learnt during that period that you didn’t already know? No. It was just shocking how people would bring negativity into what’s positive. I think that was the only thing that was new to me.
Google ranked your name as the most searched celebrity in Nollywood for 2011 and 2012. Are you proud of this? When I asked my husband if it a good thing and he said yes it is. I know that it’s not possible for everyone to like me so good or bad, if you ever googled Mercy Johnson’s name, thank you. If you didn’t google, google won’t say I’m the most searched so thank you, keep googling.
Do you have any affiliation with the gossip website mercyjohnson.com? No, I don’t have any and I’d like to stress that please. I don’t know why somebody would do a magazine and call it Mercy Johnson Celebrity Magazine or why somebody would take my name and put it on a domain for a gossip website. I can’t even use the domain name anymore and I’m so pissed. I am only on Twitter. I’m not even on Facebook anymore because somebody put up a Facebook account in my name where they put up inspirational messages on my behalf and I don’t even know where that is coming from.
What else do you do professionally apart from acting? I do lots of charity. The Mercy Johnson Foundation for Children and Widows is very active and that most of my time for now. We make donations; we give out school materials to students and go to hospitals to distribute drugs and medical equipment.
Let’s talk about your style. What influences the kind of clothes you wear? I don’t wear what is in vogue or what everybody is wearing, I just wear what suits me and I’m lucky to have a physique that encourages everything I wear. My husband is a huge critic so when he compliments my dressing, I feel so good. He doesn’t believe that exposing anything makes you look better. He feels when you cover up, you look real nice.
Would you say your personal style has changed since you got married? You know, you get wiser by the day. Sometimes when I look back at some old pictures, I’m like “Seriously, did I wear that?” I’ve learnt a lot since I got married and I know that if I had gotten married earlier, I wouldn’t have made most of the errors I made. When you are married to somebody who is so organized, he brings you up the right way and reminds you of who you’re supposed to be.
Just as we were about rounding up, an elderly woman brought in Purity who had just woken up from her nap. Mercy took time off to play with her and nurse her but not before saying “that is the best mother-in- law in the world”. After I had some time to cuddle the little cutie, we continued.
Is there any particular reason why you decided to gave birth to her in the USA? No, I could have given birth here but I was at a point in my life where everything meant a lot to me. By God’s grace, I got pregnant barely a year after I got married and I just wanted everything to be fine. Not that it wouldn’t have been fine here in Nigeria but it would be odd for us to say we are not aware of the lapses in our health care system.
What are your dreams for 2013? To get better in my career, to work with more matured scripts and improve on everything I do. However the most important things to me now are my husband and my daughter so I want to do everything in a manner that would be befitting for them.

These Fulanis Are No Cattle Rearers, They Are Rapists – Obi Onicha-Ugbo

fulani-victimOnicha Ugbo, located in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, was, recently, in the news, following reports of alleged rape of women in the community by Hausa/Fulani herdsmen. Aside this was the report of rancor over the choice of one of its prominent sons as the Odogwu -designate( a traditional administrator).

But in this interview after the “Ida nzu” ceremony penultimate Saturday, in Onicha-Ugbo,  where the Executive Vice Chairman of Exxon Mobil and publisher of Hints magazine,  Mr Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, bagged the Odogwu title, the Obi of Onicha Ugbo, Agbogidi Chukwumalieze  the first, bares his mind on the  activities of Hausa/Fulani cattle , saying they might have a  motive than mere rearing of cattle in his community.
Excerpts:
What is the celebration all about ?
Well, you call it celebration. But the celebration is yet to come. In any case, what is actually going on is that our last Odogwu, in the person of Justice Maido, passed on last November and, because of Christianity and modernization, the burial rites took place within a very short time otherwise, traditionally, it is supposed to be longer than that.
With his death, the seat became vacant and there was clamor for the Odogwu stool to be filled. But Odogwu is not a title anybody in Onicha Ugbo can take. There is a particular village that the title.
For instance, Onicha Ugbo is a community made up of five villages and each is entitled  to a particular traditional title. Ogbobi village, for instance, has Esama title; Isepe has Odogwu title ; Obekenu has Iyese title; Unulu has Aza; while Agba has another type of culture because of certain things that happened in the past. Their own title is Iyese too.
Now, when the late Odogwu passed away, the stool became vacant. And it is only from Isepe that an Odogwu will emerge. It is not my duty to appoint one. It is the duty of  the Isepe people to appoint. They are to come together and choose a particular person. When they started bringing different persons, I gave them eight market days to rub minds and decide to pick one particular person. I gave that order to the head of the Isepe people , in the person of Odafe, during one of the council meetings.
At the expiration o f that eight market days, he(Odafe) came and appealed that they had not been able to decide and asked for another four market days. Again, after the expiration of that four days,he came and told me that they were still unable to reach a consensus and begged me to give them more time. I said go ahead.
I was in Abeokuta for a meeting with other traditional rulers from Anioma, when they called to ask if they could come the next day that they have chosen somebody . I told him I would send for him at my arrival.
When I returned I sent for the Isepe heads. When they assembled, I asked Odafe ( their spokesman) who they had agreed to be their Odogwu and he gave the name as Dr. Ibe Kachukwu.
But the person in question was not in town. He was in the United States of America then. He was chosen in absentia. When he came back, we decided to chalk him (initiate him) and, today, he is at the palace to confirm his acceptance of the chalking(initiation ) as the Odogwu, that is to say, he has accepted . That is why I said it is not yet a ceremony but acceptance of the offer to be the Odugwu(warrior ) of this community.
It was in the news recently that your community had problem with Fulani cattle rearers. What actually happened?
The matter has been taken to the governor. We tabled it at a meeting in Warri. You see, the Hausa /Fulani are not rearing cattle here. They are looking for something. We are beginning to discover that they are here for something else.
Tell me, if you are rearing your cattle, won’t you take them to the bush to eat grass and drink water? Why will they rape women in their farms? Why do they eat people’s yams? Why do they take people’s property? Is that what they are expected to do? Eat grass and go if you are rearing cattle . But no! They will see a blossom farm and lead their cows to eat up farmers cassava , yam, corn and what have you. We have tolerated these people enough and have, therefore, shifted everything to the state government to look into it.
Kidnapping has assumed a worrisome dimension and it’s rampart in the eastern part of the country. What are you doing to secure your community against this scourge?
O nicha Ugbo has a very formidable vigilance group. The police has no power anymore. If you go to the police station in Onicha -Ugbo now , you will not see more than one or two persons; the Division’s officer and one other person. Police cannot cope with the issue of kidnapping  at the moment and it is not their fault but that of government. This is because they are not well equipped . Go to Onicha Ugbo police station and see whether you will find policemen there..
What is the place of Onicha Ugbo in the Anioma kingdom?
I don’t think I have to blow my own trumpet. You know Iseluku, Onicha Ugbo and other towns around. It is you that will access Onicha Ugbo and know whether there is progress or not. I think you should give us the situation report of the community.
The only thing I can tell you is that we are never hostile to strangers. As for me, I grew up in Yoruba land and even schooled there and they never hurt me one day. . With that spirit , I the interest of strangers in this town. You can go and ask. Call any Yoruba man or Igbo man in this town and ask him how is Obi I treating him or her. If you ask people, two will tell you that Obi Chukwumalieze is nice to strangers. But I do not know whether we are better than Iseluku and other communities around in terms of social lives and what have you.
When you read the report that Onitcha-Ugbo was boiling over the Odogwu issue, what was your reaction?
At first, I was taken aback. But when I read the report over , I discovered that the reporter did not put his name and concluded he could have been bought over. I am not a journalist but I know, for sure, that if a reporter did not put his name, then, he has betrayed the ethic of journalism and something needs to be done about that.
Back to the Odogwu stool, did you throw your  weight behind the Odogwu designate? To make it milder, what has been his contribution to the progress of Onicha Ugbo as a community to warrant his nomination among others?
His contribution is enormous. I will only mention three. When I ascended the throne in 1999, Onitcha-Ugbo was the only town that had  no access road to the expressway and that issue was like an arrow in my heart.
Everyday, I kept asking God what we could do? It was not something we could contribute money to construct. How much are you going to tell a market woman or a peasant farmer to contribute?.
But one day, I was driving to Iseluku when I saw people working on that access road. They did it from this road down to the expressway. I was surprised. I approached the present Iyese who was the contractor and asked , oga, who say make una come do this work? He said it was Dr Ibe Kachukwu.
The following morning, I went back to that road and discovered they had started taring it. So, I went to his house and asked if he was the person constructing the road. He said yes, that it was just part of his support to his community.
I came back and summoned my council chiefs and told them my opinion to give Dr Kachukwu a chieftaincy title, they agreed. We wrote to him but he came back and said he would not accept it except his father gave his consent but that it won’t stop him from helping his community.
But, at last, he took the title of Esaba of Ezechime. That is one.
He has given more than 900 people scholarship. Not only in Onitcha-Ugbo but in all Ezechime kingdom. And he is still doing it. . Again, you see, he bought motorbikes for most people ridding motorcycles in Onicha Ugbo.
He does that yearly.
year, he gives rice to women of this community. For women who can not afford a cup of rice, he gives them at least half a bag Christmas. Go to Onicha Ugbo All Saints Catholic Church , he made it so. Last Christmas mass, they demanded for N10 million for a need ranging from construction and other vital things in the church, he gave a cheque of N4 million.
There is a Catholic nursery and primary school he is building there. Infact, he told all the Catholic churches to remove their hands that he will complete it. In addition, the Reverend Father’s residence was built by him.

Man Who Slit Girlfriend's Throat And Had Sex With Her Speaks

Most of you have read the story, but just to remind you. On Tuesday April 30th, a 25 year old bricklayer named Akinloye Anuoluwapo slit his ex-girlfriend's throat, a 21year old girl named Rafiyat Akinyemi, then had sex with her as she bled to death in her father's house at Ogijo in Ogun state.

The girl had dumped him and that was too much for him to take. He went to her house armed with a knife and attacked her. Akinloye (pictured above) explains what led to the killing...

(GRAPHIC PHOTO BELOW)

On April 29, I missed her call, and in annoyance, she sent me series of annoying text messages, warning me not to call her or come to her house. I had once sent a message to her, appealing that she should not abandon me because I was disowned by my parents because of her, saying that I would commit suicide if she did. In reference to that message, she said I could die for all she cared, saying that my exit would create more enjoyment for the living, including herself.

"I was so disturbed that I could not concentrate at work the following day, April 30. I went back home to take a knife I kept in my box. I went to her house around 8.30a.m. and met her alone. I was thinking I could use the knife to frighten her because we used to quarrel like that and settle it. To my surprise, she stood up and started shouting at me, saying she had warned me not to come to her house again.

"She held me and we started struggling in her parents sitting room. I made up my mind to made love with her and I was able to penetrate her as we were struggling with each other. It was in the process that the knife pierced her throat. Immediately I saw blood, I was afraid, so I drew the knife out and ran away.

“I called my company’s lawyer and told him. I also called my friend, Gbenga, to go to Rofiat’s house and assess the situation. He told me he saw her where she was lay, dead.

“I lost my peace and could not do anything at work until the police came to arrest me. I know that I have sinned against God and erred against the law of the land. I know that the law cannot spare me, I know that I will die, but I just pray that God will forgive me. I know I will be hanged but I just pray that God will receive my spirit.”

Ibadan Girl Stabs Her Rapist To Death In Self Defence [

MAY 5, 2013 was Onyinyechi Orakwuelum’s 18th birthday. The day she became an adult and the day she allegedly stabbed to death 19-years-old Akinwale Ayobami, who she said wanted to rape her.

Onyinye, who is currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, Ibadan, pending investigation, narrated her story to Tribune and she said:

I am from Nkwele Ogidi in Anambra. I finished from Saint Gabriel Commercial Secondary School, Mokola, Ibadan, in 2011.

The deceased (Ayobami) was my mate in secondary school, as well as my friend Funmbi.

My parents moved to our personal house at Ologuneru community in Ibadan, so I lost contact with my friends. One day, my mother came home and told me that she saw my friend, Funmbi, and that they had also moved to Ologuneru. I was happy and we reunited.

She later gained admission into a university. In April this year, she came to me and asked if I remembered Ayobami, who was popularly called Ewizzy. She said they chatted on facebook and that he told her that he was also living at Ologuneru, and had asked her to meet him at a junction so that she could know his place.
I told her that I could not recollect the name so she went alone.

The next time she wanted to go there, she asked me to follow her. I initially refused, but she persuaded me. We got there and saw him. His girlfriend was also there, lying on a couch. We relived our secondary school days and he later requested for my number since we were living in the same area. I gave him.

We left and not too long after, he called me, saying that he had been calling Funmbi’s number but it was switched off. He said he wanted to know if I had got home. Funmbi was beside me then so she also answered because her phone battery had gone flat by then.
Since then, I did not hear from him, though there was a day I missed his call, but I could not call him back as I had no credit on my phone.
On my birthday on May 5, I went to help a lady in our neighbourhood after coming back from church. When I checked my phone later, I saw Ayobami’s call among others that I had missed.
I called him back and while chatting, I told him that day was my birthday. He congratulated me and said it was worth celebrating. I told him I was only marking it.

He asked where I was and I said Ologuneru, he then asked me to join him at Ologuneru junction. I went there at about 7p.m. and I saw him come out of a beer parlour. I didn’t know that he was already drunk.
On getting to his apartment, he took me through the back door. When I asked why, he said the lock on the front door was bad so he locked it with a padlock.
I told him I preferred to sit outside because it was pitch dark inside. He opened the front door and I went in. We put on torchlights.
I made a call to a friend while he was busy on his laptop. Later, he made a call to his mother.
We started discussing about school days again and he then went to the kitchen and offered me water. I told him I was o.k. and he went into the kitchen again.

It was at that point that Onyinyechi said the story changed. She narrated further:

“He came back and locked the front door with a padlock. I asked him why he did that but he just sat beside me and said he wanted to date me. I even thought he was joking, and I replied that ‘is that what we came here to do?’ but he told me he was very serious.
As he moved closer, I perceived a strong smell of alcohol, then I knew he was drunk.
“I asked again: ‘AY, are you drunk?’ he replied that he was not drunk, saying he meant what he said. I told him I could not date him and he replied that if I could not date him, then he must made love with me before I leave.
I told him to open the door for me to leave but he said I was not going anywhere. I started pleading but he did not yield.
“The next thing he did was to pull off his trousers and I knew I was in trouble because I could see he was aroused. He told me I could see that he was in mood for sex and that he must have his way.

I opened the sliding window screaming ‘somebody, please help me!, Somebody, please, save me!’. He came there, slapped me, drew me back and locked the window.
I started running round the sitting room and he was pursuing me.
“He went to the kitchen and brought a knife, warning me not to waste his time.
He threatened to do something nasty to me if I did not yield to him after counting from one to 10.

He had said before that he loved his mother so I begged him in the name of his mother, he did not yield ground.
I begged him in the name of God but he said he left God a long time ago and that he was serving Ogun. He showed me the picture of a bird hanged on the wall and said that was the symbol of his god.
I also told him I was having my menses but he said I should allow him to do what he wanted to do, saying that if his friends should meet me in the house, they would take their turns with me.
He lit a cigarette and started smoking. He started his countdown but I knelt and was pleading. As he got to eight, I screamed the more but he rushed at me and started struggling with me to remove the bum shorts I was wearing underneath my long dress.

In the process, he dropped the knife, and at that moment of intense fear, I picked the knife and waved it at him in the darkness. The next thing I heard was Yee! O ti gun mi (Oh! You have stabbed me).

I stood up, shivering. I searched for my phone because the entire place was in topsy-turvy.

Throughout the struggling, no one responded among his neighbours, though he had earlier said that no one would respond to me as they regard the occupants of his flat as ‘Dons’ who are dreaded.
“I reported at home and we went to the police station to report. By the time we got back to the house, he was dead. It was in the morning that it was seen clearly that the knife pierced his heart.”

Sunday Tribune gathered that the deceased’s mother had been so distraught about his death that she had been calling for justice to be done to her son’s killer.
She was said to be separated from the boy’s father and had remarried and given birth to other children while Ayobami was the only child she had for the father.

Police investigations also revealed that the man Ayobami was living with in the flat was not related to him.

Reacting to the story, the Assistant Commissioner of police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, ACP Dasuki Galadanchi said the matter was still being investigated.

There is no witness yet to support the suspect's story. On the side too, dead bodies cannot talk. There was no witness on the side to corroborate whether there was an attempted rape or not.

In line with the police strategy of the Inspector General of police which encourages openness, transparency and accountability, we will go deeper into investigations and get to the root of the matter. If she’s found culpable, she’ll be charged to court accordingly. We are for justice.

Protect Nigerians From Attacks, NSCIA Tells FG

Following the worsening spate of violence in the country, the Nigeria Council for Islamic Affairs on Friday said the Federal Government should stop shying away from its responsibility of protecting .prof-ishaq-oloyede-360x225 (1)
’s newly appointed Secretary-General, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, said this while speaking with newsmen after he observed the Jumat service at the Abeokuta Central Mosque, Kobiti.
Oloyede, who succeeded the late Dr. Lateef Adegbite, said the of lives and property remained the primary responsibility of the government, adding that the Federal Government should live up to its responsibility to the citizens.
The former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin expressed concern over the worsening insecurity in the country and decried alleged attempts by the government to abdicate its responsibility of identifying criminals.
He said, “For one reason or the other, some people have decided to take up arms against the state. We should cooperate with the government in solving it. But government should not transfer its responsibility to us. We do not take security votes; some people are in control of the votes for security.
“Why should the responsibility of protecting citizen, identifying criminals among us be transferred to innocent citizens? I believe that we are doing our best by cooperating with the government and government should be up and doing in discharging its own basic responsibility. We are victims. There is nothing like guilty by association because we are Muslims.”
The NSCIA Secretary-General also exonerated Muslims from terrorist activities in the country, stressing that the violence perpetrtated by Boko Haram members negated the teachings of Islam.
Oloyede said though the President Goodluck -led administration had yet to offer amnesty to the sect members, it should not relent in exploring the dialogue option.
He said, “The right thing to do is for us to continue working towards a goal of peaceful dialogue. I’m happy to note yesterday that the Minister for Special Duties, acting as the chairman of the new committee, has started working.”

Actress, Afrocandy is a pathological liar and a cheat – Ex-husband speaks

So this woman used to be normal? What then happened to her? Maybe her ex-husband can give us an insight. Judith Opara Mazagwu, aka , was once married to Bolton Mazagwu. Below is an interview he gave Daily Sun a while back about the woman who was once his .
Revealing how he met Judith, Bolton Mazagwu said:
afro_and_ex-1“I worked a while in Lagos before I relocated to USA. I came for holidays with my siblings and my uncle arranged for me to get a wife. There were ladies he wanted me to meet and choose from. On my way to check out these ladies, I met Judith, my ex-wife. Because I like fair complexioned ladies, I took her in my car and we got talking. She told me that her name was Sandra, which I later found out was false. She told me she was a student of IMT, Enugu, which was also false. She never enrolled at IMT. When I offered to drive her to her home, she told me she was staying with her uncle. I discovered that the said uncle was her boyfriend. My friend at Onitsha, Omoba, revealed these to me.
“The following day, I went to pick her up and we went to Enugu. After shopping at Onitsha, we came to Lagos, to the apartment where I lived at Ajao Estate. When I was going back to the US, I left the apartment for her. I was sending her money, although I had a hunch about her lifestyle. I remember telling her the day we met that my people won’t allow me marry an Owerri woman, since she told me she was from Owerri. After three months, I came to and spent 11 months here with her. At this time, I had abandoned the idea of marrying the Onitsha lady I was supposed to marry. Judith and I stayed in a hotel because I lost my job and abandoned college back in New York. I got broke at some point during that period and I moved in with a friend, Christopher, at Okota. He really didn’t want me to marry Judith and it was a fight between us. He actually pushed Judith out of the house. People we stayed in their homes refused her.” He said that members of her family opposed his relationship with Judith, but he ignored their position. He said: “They vehemently opposed our union and yet I wouldn’t listen. It was war in my family. My mum and my aunt didn’t want her. My people didn’t want me to marry her, even when she had become pregnant with her child; they told her after I managed to go back to New York, that they would gladly take the baby from her if she delivered, but that I would never marry her.
Afrocandy 3 (1)“When I returned again, I went to her parents; they appealed to me and told me that their people never get divorced once they are married. I respected their opinion because they are good Christians. When I went back to USA, my cousin who trades at Balogun gave her N200, 000.00 in 1995. You know the value of money at that time, but I paid back in dollar equivalent. All these were attempts to make sure that she got an apartment, which she did at No. 2 Alhaji Azeez Street Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos. Before the introduction of Western Union Money Transfer, I was sending money to her constantly. There was this African American publication called JET.  I would put money in between the pages, seal it and sent it through Red Star . When Western Union came, my name became a household name at Oba Akran branch of Union Bank.”
He said this continued until, “2002 when she started talking about acting in movies. I objected to that and maintained that I didn’t want her to go into acting. I needed her to take care of the kids, full time and also to get her busy. We quarrelled over it that night and I almost gave up on her, but because of my polygamous background and knowing what growing up was for us, the idea of leaving her was knocked off. I also love my children, Annabel and Angel, so much because at that time, I didn’t know that Angel was fathered by another man.”
When asked what he meant by ‘Angel was fathered by another man, Mazagwu said: “When she sent me her pictures, I suspected, from the child’s facial features that she didn’t look like me. When I complained, she told me that the girl took after my mother’s people. She stopped at nothing to make me believe all her lies. She is a pathological liar. When I confronted her with the DNA results, she confessed that indeed, I am not Angel’s father and rationalised her actions to loneliness and temptation.”
On his allegation that his wife had multiply partners, he said: “In the apartment I rented for her, she had affairs with the landlord because she lied about her marital status. She didn’t tell the man she was married. It was only when trouble broke out that the landlord knew her real status. Also, a guy across the street, named Goddy from Abia State, laid accusations on her. She couldn’t deny this. I know Goddy; whenever I came to town, she would tell me that Goddy was a chief from Abia State and I took them that way, not knowing they were dating.”
One how the bubble burst, the angry ex-hubby said: “She started leaving the kids all by themselves. She would leave them and hit the clubs. I was boiling, but she had gone full circle. So, in January 2006, I came to Nigeria to investigate the whole thing and discovered everything was true. Before I returned from Nigeria she ran to the child support in the US to file a report that I had abdicated my responsibility. She went to the Nigeria Catholic community to complain. When I returned and told the church what had happened, it was shocking to them.

We didn’t do the Collaboration with 50 Cent, because I and Presh broke up – Kcee

…Says what happened between him and Ebube Nwagbo was ‘Limpopo’
Hip hop star, Kingsley Okonkwo popularly known as K-Cee keeps pulling strong, ever since the split of ; he has surpassed expectations and risen into such a huge star on his own, hit after hit. In this interview, talks about his new album, his  split with and what transpired between him and actress Ebube Nwagbo.  Excerpt:
Who inspired you into music ?
Basically, I will say music is  something I have passion for.  I started singing  from  the church choir until I won the talent hunt show. Since then, I have been doing my thing and making my own  impact on the nation’s music scene. Music is my life , it’s  my profession and that’s what I do for a living.
What brought about the split between you and Presh?
I don’t know what people really want to know about my break up with Presh. But what I know is that we are no more doing business together  and we collectively decided to pursue solo careers after 12 years of performing as a group. That’s what we are doing now. We didn’t quarrel or beef each other. It was a joint agreement that we should pursue solo careers.   It wasn’t because of money or anything. I think it just happened that way, we never saw the break-up coming. We just had an idea to do separate albums and that’s what is happening right now.
Kcee
So how did you meet Presh ?
I met him in a church choir  and we were running the choir together after which we entered for the Star Quest TV reality show together and won the show.
Now that you are no longer together , is there anything you did then that you find difficult to do now ?
Of course  yes , because formally I used to  record together with my partner and then, it’s  either am doing the verse or he’s doing the chorus.  But right now, I’m doing everything alone which is a plus and more so, I have a kind of music that people can  identify with my voice as K-Cee. So, when they hear my music, they will know its me . I think its an achievement for me to let people know my real person.
Are you trying to say that you’ve not been faced with challenges after the split ?
The truth is that  there has been one or two challenges  but by the grace of God, they are not too difficult to overcome because breaking up with your partner was not easy thing. I am trying to make  people to believe in me and in my talent.  Two years down the drain, I already have a couple of songs which my fans have come to love so much. I don’t know if I should say am missing something. But all the same, am fine.
How many songs have you done after the split ?
Generally, I have done eight songs after the split. I  have ‘such songs as ’Now I Know’ ,Okpekete ,Okpekete remix,Tor tori.
Are you missing Presh ?
I think I’m getting more attention now than before. The attention I’m getting now is bigger than what I was getting when we were together.
…Meaning that you did not regret splitting with Presh ?
For me, I have no regret because it  was a mutual decision taken by the group to show their fans their individual genre of music. I have been working to stay on top of my game. I’m not sleeping, This is a time for salvation  because I have been working towards  this achievement. So, no regret at all .
So, how did you start working together ?
I started it. I met him at the church and I approached him. We used to be  four in the group then;myself, Presh , Domino and Emmy .Later, the other two left to pursue their dreams. At a point, Presh was no longer interested but later he came back to join forces with me.
How was life like before you got to this level ?
Of course, it has not been easy trying to do good music, and  making people happy each time they hear your muisc. You have to work and work until you get the right sound, and also,  you need the energy to push and promote your song. It is really not easy. It could be stressful and fun sometimes. But the thing is that you don’t  need to give up, you need to keep  pushing it that’s why we are alive. For me, things have not been rosy
What really happened between you and Ebube Nwagbo ?
What happened between us was nothing  more than having fun. That’s what my new song titled ‘’Limpopo ‘ is all about. It mean let’s have fun.
KceeAny memorable experience so far ?
I always remember the day I won Star Quest TV reality show competition. It was memorable for me because it actually gave me the opportunity to express myself. Anytime, I remember that day, I always feel happy. I never believed KC Presh could win Star Quest. When we entered for the competition in 2002, after Eedris Abdul Kareem advised us to do so.
That day, I cried and people did not know why I was crying. I reminisced, recounting the experience that transformed my  life forever. The reason was that God had broken the chains of poverty in my life and taken me to a greater height. I knew I was going to make use of that opportunity because of the hunger I had exhibited while winning the competition. I couldn’t help  but to shed tears of joy.
After we  got their first N1million cheque, courtesy of Star Quest reality TV show,I bought a Mercedez Benz 190. And I was cruising around town then with the new car.
How do you treat your female fans ?
Some of my colleagues get carried away when it comes to women. But interestingly, women are part of the entertainment business. Now, what matters is your ability to control them. It’s very important to you as an entertainer if you want to succeed.  When you pay some artistes for a show, they move into a hotel for the next one month blowing the money, hanging out with girls and just having fun without remembering to invest.
Like I said, my father was a DJ, so, I heard the story of other musicians first hand who made it big and then crashed later. When we started making money, we remembered to invest. We toured all the 36 states of the federation with so many brands, including Nestle, and we made so much money and the women were coming.
But we made sure we invested. Though they love me so much and I  love them too. I handle them the way they want me to handle them . That’s why I said, in my song that  I want to be your maga so they should use me as they want .
Are you still single because we heard you were once married ?
I have never married before, the person that got married was my brother but people thought I was the one. There was nothing like me having extra-marital affair or a love kid. They are all lies.
Tell us more about your Limpopo song?
Limpopo is my latest song which I did with Harry song and I did it the way I’ve been doing other songs.  It is like  a month old now. The song is already everywhere so I think its God that made it to be so and am happy about it. Also the song means lets have fun its just about me and a lady that’s all
What is the secret of your  success?
Consistency is the key. You have to be consistent, know the business and follow it up. I know people love good music all I need to do is to give them good music. Aside this,  you have to always keep renewing your face in the business and be trendy and avoid scandals that can destroy your career.
We heard you have a record label , can you tell us about it ?
Right now, am under Five Star music and its owned by E-money who is the president while I am the vice-president .
What made you and Presh thought of doing collaboration with 50 Cent?
Yea , that was before I and Presh split but we didn’t do it again because the plan was between the two of us. So, when we the project could not be executed.
Tell us about  your childhood ?
My growing up was not too rough. I grew up in Lagos where I had my early education. I hail from an average family.
Did your parents disagree with you over your choice of career?
Yea , my mum  then supported me while my dad was indifference. But  along the line, he started supporting me when I proved to him that music is what I want to do for a living. He  had no choice than to support me.
What do you have  for your fans out there ?
Nothing less than good music. Because for me, and my record label, we  are trying to ensure that we do  good  music. I am sure that the industry will experience  good music. We have a couple of artistes that will be coming out soon under our label with lots of good music. So, that’s what we are working on at the moment. They should expect  good music .
Where should we expect Kcee  in the next five years ?
I think from now till the end of this year, I will be more busy than ever.  As far as I am concerned,  I have a lot in stock.  I just don’t want to let the cat out of the bag, my fans should just keep their fingers crossed .  I am just starting and  I have not gotten to anywhere yet.

Pakistan vote: Nawaz Sharif in talks on new government

Supporters of former PM Nawaz Sharif have been celebrating in Pakistan
Pakistani ex-PM Nawaz Sharif has been holding talks with party colleagues on forming a government, after claiming victory in parliamentary elections.
Unofficial results suggest a big lead for Mr Sharif's Muslim League (PML-N), though he may need support to govern.
Former cricketer Imran Khan, who could be the main opposition leader, said he was pleased with the high turnout but disappointed about reports of rigging.
The ruling Pakistan People's Party (PPP) seems to have been badly beaten.
It was one of several secular parties unable to campaign freely due to Taliban attacks.

Nawaz Sharif's priorities will be rejuvenating the economy and improving security - these are both areas that require some speedy but difficult decision-making”
Most of the remaining PPP seats look likely to be in its heartland of Sindh province.
Saturday's election should pave the way for the country's first transition from one elected government to another.
The poll was generally seen as having passed off successfully, but violence on Saturday claimed at least 24 lives.
An election commission spokesman said turnout had been around 60%. In 2008 it was 44%.
'Path of democracy' Mr Sharif is expected to become prime minister for the third time, his last period in office ending 14 years ago in a military coup followed by his trial and exile.
The BBC's Mike Wooldridge in Islamabad says he is already getting down to business, starting work on putting together a government.

Nawaz Sharif

Former Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif celebrates in Lahore. 11 May 2013
  • Born in 1949 to family of a prominent Lahore industrialist
  • Served as Punjab's chief minister from 1985 to 1990 under military dictator Zia ul-Haq
  • Previous terms as prime minister 1990-1993 and 1997-1999
  • Deposed by Gen Musharraf and given a jail term
  • Went into exile in Saudi Arabia before returning in 2007
  • Seen as conservative and pro-business
Our correspondent says that even if his PML-N does not have an outright majority, its projected margin of victory suggests it will be in a much stronger position than the PPP was at the head of the outgoing coalition.
Mr Sharif should at least not need to seek the support of his main rivals, the PPP and Imran Khan's Movement for Justice (PTI), analysts say.
Soon after polls closed, he claimed victory and joined supporters celebrating in his stronghold, the north-eastern city of Lahore.
Muslim League voter Asma Usmani in Islamabad praised the poll.
"I was expecting that PML-N would win because I voted for them. These were very fair elections and the election commission did very well," she said.
Meanwhile Mr Khan spoke publicly for the first time since the election. He is in hospital with a fractured spine after a fall at an election rally last Tuesday.
"I congratulate the entire nation for taking part in such a massive democratic process. We are moving forward on the path of democracy," he said.
After so many stories about stuffed, sick, even dead tigers, the metaphor was perhaps irresistible. "The tiger roars again" was the headline in Dawn newspaper in reference to the mascot of Nawaz Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League.
Other words in Pakistan's new political lexicon were also inescapable. But the "tsunami" of support Imran Khan predicted would sweep him to power was, on the front page of the Urdu language Nawa-e-Waqt, used to describe Mr Sharif's surge.
Mr Khan undeniably made a difference. It's a remarkable rise from the lone seat his Movement for Justice won in the 2002 poll. And he energised a campaign that inspired new voters, and pushed rivals to re-focus their own pitches to the public.
But all the talk now is of Mr Sharif's comeback, and whether Pakistan itself can move forward after an election which toppled some of the old guard, but gave others another chance.
"Now there is awareness among the people of Pakistan that their fate is in their hands."
He praised Pakistan's women for voting in unprecedented numbers, and said he would "issue a white paper" in response to allegations of vote-rigging by members of his party.
But some of Mr Khan's supporters said the vote was rigged against them.
A PTI spokesman said the PML-N had been involved in large-scale rigging in parts of Lahore, and many women were not allowed to vote.
"These can't be called fair elections," said one supporter, businessman Bilal Saleem.
"PTI should have got more seats in Punjab. It was Imran Khan versus Punjab political machinery."
But PML-N's election officer denied the allegations.
"We don't go to these levels," Amna Malik said. "We are here to create change in Pakistan and rule out corruption."
Meanwhile Election Commission head Sher Afghan denied that anyone was intimidated, threatened or prevented from voting, adding that any formal complaint would be investigated.
