Eagles’ World Cup squad: Keshi sticks to old list

keshi11After over one week of consultation, Super Eagles Head Coach, Stephen Keshi may have resolved not to string any change to the list he presented to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical committee on April 22.

The Eagles gaffer as exclusively reported by Daily Sunsports yesterday is billed to meet again with the NFF technical committee on Tuesday next week (May 6) after which the Eagles list would be made public.

A close pal of the coach confided in Daily Sunsports that everything pointed to Keshi being in for another stormy session with the Mr. Chris Green-led technical committee as he (Keshi) had not made any change to the list, which he handed over to team’s scribe Dayo Enebi Achor days after his return from the United States of America (USA) where he was on vacation.

“I can confirm to you that nothing has changed, talking about the list Keshi was clutching before he was told to go and consult more. He is not making any substitutions since non of the players he had in mind is down with any serious injury at the moment,” our source said.

Our source stressed that the six home lads on the list, to be led by goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim, would still make it to London for the May 28 friendly against Scotland just as Ike Uche’s name would not be on the list to be re-submitted by the coach to the technical committee.

“The technical committee will definitely see on Tuesday (May 6) that nothing has changed, but what they would decide to do is what we just have to put our fingers crossed to see,” he said.

We further gathered that while the committee may not force any player on Keshi, he may be ordered to trim his 38-man list to 30.

A member of the technical committee told Daily Sunsports that the list to be made public on Tuesday won’t be more than 30.
