Lionel Messi has welcomed the prospect of Brazil superstar Neymar joining Barcelona this summer after reports emerged a deal is to be done later in the summer.
Neymar has been linked with a switch to Camp Nou for some time and the combination of the 21-year-old with Lionel Messi is one that fans of the Catalan club will be desperate to see.
On a visit to the United Arab Emirates, Messi was speaking to a Qatari television network Al-Kass when he was asked about the possibility of Barcelona signing Neymar.
While Messi did not give anything away over whether or not the Brazilian was set to join Barcelona, he made it clear what he thought of the prospect.
“I do not know whether he will join Barcelona or not, that only he knows his next destination,” said Messi.
“I think he if he comes to Barcelona he will be a great addition to the club because he has great individual ability.
“He is great at beating people and it is clear that for Barcelona would be a wonderful addition.”
Neymar’s move to Barcelona looks even more likely this afternoon after the Santos vice-president, Odilio Rodrigues, confirmed the forward had informed the club he wanted to move to Camp Nou.
However, Rodrigues did claim that he expected a bid from Real Madrid to come in and confirmed that Santos would do what was best for the club.
